Public domain According to the Romanian Law on Copyright and Neighboring Rights Law no. 8/1996 of March 14, 1996 with further amendments Chapter 3 Article 9 the following documents shall not benefit from the legal protection accorded to copyright:

  • (c) official symbols of the State, public authorities and organizations, such as armorial bearings, seals, flags, emblems, shields, badges and medals;
  • (d) means of payment;
  • (e) news and press information;
  • (f) simple facts and data.

Also, according to Chapter 10 Article 85 Paragraph 2,

  • The photographs of letters, deeds, documents of any kind, technical drawings and other similar papers shall not benefit from the legal protection accorded to copyright.

Therefore this image is assumed to be in the public domain worldwide, although some of the above categories may be subject to usage restrictions within Romania.

Română: Descrierea stemei:

Stema orașului Miercurea Nirajului se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, în al cărui câmp albastru se află un leu, întors spre dextra, rampant și leopardat, de aur, cu limba roșie scoasă, ținând cu laba dextră ridicată o săgeată de argint, care trece prin ochii animalului, de la dextra la senestra. Talpa scutului este tăiată printr-o bandă undată, de argint.

Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu trei turnuri crenelate.

Semnificațiile elementelor însumate

Elementul heraldic derivă din stema familiei Bocskai și amintește de faptul că Ștefan Bocskai a fost ales principe al Transilvaniei la Miercurea Nirajului la 21 februarie 1605. Banda undată simbolizează râul Niraj, care străbate orașul și de la care derivă denumirea sa.

Coroana murală cu trei turnuri crenelate semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de oraș.
