Пустиње понекад садрже вредна лежишта [[минерал]]а која су се обликовала у [[Арид|аридној]] околини или су била изложена [[Ерозија|ерозији]]. Будући да су пустиње сува подручја, оне су идеална места за очување [[фосил]]а и [[Човек|људских]] рукотворина.
