Титула фолкланског висконта је шкотска племићка титула, а сама реч ''фолкланд'' се односила на један вид власништва над земљом из времена [[Англосаксонска Енглеска|англосаксонске Британије]].
Шпанско име архипелага ''Малвинска острва'' ({{јез-шп|Islas Malvinas}}) долази од француског назива за острва (фра.
