Kralj Artur

Kralj Artur (engl. King Arthur) bio je legendarni britanski kralj koji je vladao početkom 6. veka nove ere. Artur je jedan od najpoznatijih likova keltske mitologije; od 12. veka je glavni lik brojnih književnih dela. Detalji priče o Arturu se uglavnom sastoje od folklornih i književnih izuma, a njegovo istorijsko postojanje je debatovano i osporavano među modernim istoričarima.[1] Retka istorijska pozadina Artura prikupljena je iz raznih izvora, uključujući Annales Cambriae, Historia Brittonum, i Gildine zapise. Arturovo ime se isto tako javlja u ranim poetskim izvorima, kao što je J Gododin.[2]

Istorijski izvori уреди

Velški hroničar Nenije (Nennius) u svom delu Istorija Brita (Historia Brittonum) nastalom početkom 9. veka pominje Artura kao vođu keltskih Brita u dvanaest bitaka protiv Anglosaksonaca. Taj pohod se završio Arturovom pobedom u bici kod Mons Badonicusa (engl. Mount Badon) 516. godine.

Međutim, najstariji prepis Istorije Brita je nastao oko 1000. godine, pa nije dovoljno pouzdan. Nenije ističe i da se u Britaniji u prvoj polovini 6. veka, nakon odlaska Rimljana, živelo mirno i bez ratova.

Uopšteno, istorijski izvori o Arturu su magloviti i nejasni, ali se svi slažu oko činjenice da je krajem 5. veka, na teritoriju današnjeg Velsa i Engleske, u tadašnjem britskom kraljevstvu Pauvis (vel. Powys), živeo ratni vođa koji je objedinio razjedinjena britska kraljevstva u borbi protiv nadirućih Angla i Sasa (svi izvori ističu da Artur nije bio kralj, nego „Dux bellorum“ — ratni vođa).

Smatra se da Artur nije bilo njegovo pravo ime, nego titula, koja je simbolizovala udruživanje Brita koji su zadržali stare, keltske običaje, i onih Brita koji su tokom vladavine Rimljana romanizovani i koji su prihvatili hrišćanstvo. Te dve frakcije su, naime, bile u sukobu u vreme početka invazije Angla i Sasa, i bilo ih je potrebno ujediniti. Stoga je Arthur uzeo ovaj pseudonim, skovan od britske i latinske reči za medveda (simbol Arturov) — „Arth“ i „Ursus“, od čega je nastalo ime „Arthursus“, tj. „Arthur“.

Prema nekim izvorima, britanska kraljevstva su bila tako posvađana da je čovek koji bi ih ujedinio morao doći izdaleka. Stoga postoje pretpostavke da je Artur zapravo došao iz plemena Votadini (Goddodin) koje je živelo na području na kojem se danas nalazi grad Edinburg. Arturove sjajne pobede nad Sasima, koje su zabeležene u istoriji, verovatno su bile posledica njegove jedinstvene borbene taktike koja se oslanjala na upotrebu konjice, roda vojske nepoznatog varvarskim plemenima koja su nadirala s istoka Britanskog ostrva.

Postoji teorija prema kojoj su njegovi konjanici („vitezovi“) bili potomci Sarmaćana, prisiljeni na službu Rimskom carstvu, koji su bili vrhunski jahači (ova teorija prikazana je u filmu „Kralj Artur“). Prema nekim drugim teorijama, bili su to ostaci rimske aristokratije („equites“) koja je bila obučena za upotrebu konja u ratovanju. Nakon niza od 12 sjajnih pobeda protiv osvajača, čini se da je Artur postao žrtva istih onih sukoba među kraljevstvima zbog kojih je i došao na položaj zapovednika. Bitka kod Kamlana, u kojoj je poginuo, bila je navodno sukob dva britska kraljevstva. Nedugo po njegovoj smrti, Angli i Sasi su nastavili s osvajanjem Britanskog ostrva, i samo 50 godina nakon njegove smrti poslednji Briti su bili potisnuti u udaljena brda Velsa i Kornvala, gde su se do današnjih dana sačuvali stari keltski običaji.

Godine 1191. u gradu Glastonberi navodno su pronađeni posmrtni ostaci kralja Artura i kraljice Genoveve. Kosti su kasnije prebačene u gradsku crkvu, ali je grob uništen u doba engleske reformacije, a kosti su nestale. Međutim, otkrilo se da je reč o propagandnom potezu tadašnjih lokalnih vlasti, koje su želele da privuku hodočasnike. Pravi Arturov grob nikada nije otkriven, iako je prema legendi prenesen na ostrvo Avalon, kako bi njegove smrtne rane zacelile.

Legenda o Arturu уреди

Legenda o kralju Arturu je prvi put izneta u delu Historia Regum Britanniae, oko 1139. godine. Artur se spominje i u delima Bruta, oko 1200. godine, Lajamona, zatim Le Morte d'Arthur od Tomasa Malorija, a najpoznatiji biograf kralja Artura je Džefri od Monmuta. Ističu se i dela Roberta de Borona: Joseph d'Arimathe, Merlin i Perceval.

Likovi u legendama o kralju Arturu nisu uvek u istim odnosima, već su različito povezani u raznim verzijama priče. Artur je sin kralja Utera Pendragona i kraljice Igraine. Njegova draga kojom se oženio je Genoveva (Guinevere). Lanselot je Arturov najbolji prijatelj i najpouzdaniji vitez. Međutim, ljubavna veza Lanselota i Genoveve označava i početak Arturovog pada. Merlin je mudar čovek i čarobnjak. Morgana (Morgan le Fay) je Arturova sestra koja mu je otkrila ljubavnu vezu Lanselota i Genoveve. U drugim verzijama ona je vila ili simbol sreće, a ponekad i negativan lik koji želi da vlada umesto Artura. Tu su još i vitezovi Parsifal, Galahad i Gavain, koji se ističu kao idealni vitezovi odani Arturu.

Njegov mač Ekskalibur i priča o maču u kamenu opšte su poznati. Artur je kao mladić izvadio mač iz kamena. Legenda tvrdi da onaj ko izvuče mač jeste sin Utera Pendragona, pa je Artur postao kralj. Okrugli sto za kojim sede Arturovi vitezovi okruglog stola i dvorac Kamelot takođe su sastavni deo priča o kralju Arturu. Posebno treba spomenuti potragu za gralom. Gral, mistični predmet, može pronaći samo vitez čistog srca. Tako se u srednjem veku objašnjavalo koje osobine mora imati idealan vitez.

U nekim verzijama Artur je poginuo u boju protiv svog nećaka Mordreda, koji je digao bunu protiv njega. U kasnijim verzijama, Mordred je sin incestuozne veze Artura i njegove sestre Morgane. Bitka kod Kamlana iz 537. godine je bitka u kojoj je Artur poginuo. Nakon bitke, Artura su odveli na ostrvo Avalon, gde mu rane zaceljuju. Prema priči, jednog dana Artur će se vratiti i ponovo vladati.

Jedna od legendi o njemu je legenda o svetom gralu.
