100 najboljih gitarista svih vremena po izboru časopisa „Roling stoun“

100 najboljih gitarista svih vremena (engl. 100 Greatest Guitarists) naziv je top-liste koju je sačinio muzički časopis Roling stoun. Prvobitna verzija liste predstavljena je u septembru 2003. godine, a za odabir i poredak gitarista bio je zadužen Dejvid Frik, novinar ovog časopisa. Na listi su najbrojniji gitaristi iz perioda rokenrola, ali ima i istaknutih pojedinaca iz drugih muzičkih žanrova kao što su bluz i džez, te umetnika koji su najsnažnije uticali na rok gitariste.
Lista je, po objavljivanju, izazvala mnoštvo rasprava i debata u krugovima muzičara i obožavalaca. Najviše prigovora i zamerki je bilo zbog očigledne zapostavljenosti žena gitarista, pošto su se na spisku nalazile samo Džoni Mičel (72. mesto) i Džoan Džet (87. mesto). Kritičar Dejvid Segal ovu činjenicu opravdao je komentarom „Ukupan broj svih pomena vrednih gitaristkinja ravan je nuli!“, objašnjavajući da, bez obzira na razloge, u ovom segmentu muzičkog biznisa žene nikad nisu bile ni pioniri, niti pravi virtuozi. Kamil Paglija je to objašnjavala postojanjem svojevrsnog „rok mačizma“ kazavši „Gitara je za dečaka instrument kojim se izražavaju agresivni seksualni impuls i potisnuta osećanja.“[1]
Uočljivo je da gitaristi nisu bili procenjivani samo po njihovom sviračkom umeću, već i po njihovim ukupnim umetničkim sposobnostima, uključujući sviranje na različitim instrumentima, inovativnost, autorstvo nad pesmama, te upliv na sveukupnu pop kulturu. Time se objašnjavao visok plasman Kurta Kobejna (na 12. mestu) ili gitarista grupe Radiohead. Još jedan zanimljiv podatak je bio plasman Kirka Hameta na 11. mestu (po nekim izvorima, Hamet je imao izvesnu kontrolu nad celokupnim procesom pisanja pesama u grupi Metallica).
U decembru 2011. izdata je revidirana i ažurirana verzija ove top-liste. Nova verzija bila je sastavljena na osnovu glasova poznatih gitarista i drugih muzičkih stručnjaka i značajno se razlikovala od prvobitne.
