Potrivit anexei nr. 1, stema oraşului Drăgăneşti-Olt se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat în furcă răsturnată. În dreapta, în câmp roşu, se află un mănunchi compus din şase spice de grâu de aur. În stânga, în câmp auriu, se află un ciorchine de strugure verde, cu două frunze de aceeaşi culoare, cu codiţă naturală şi cârcel orientat spre senestra. În vârful scutului, în câmp albastru, se află o roată de moară peste valuri, totul de argint. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu trei turnuri crenelate. Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate: Spicele de grâu simbolizează principala ocupaţie a locuitorilor, agricultura practicată în Câmpia Boianului, iar cifra lor indică numărul cartierelor componente ale oraşului. Strugurele reprezintă o altă ocupaţie de bază a locuitorilor, viticultura. Roata de moară evocă lacul de acumulare şi centrala hidroelectrică de pe râul Olt. Coroana murală cu trei turnuri crenelate semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de oraş.
