Опис
English: This 1968 photograph showed the outside of a typical refugee hospital or camp during the Nigerian-Biafran civil war. In 1967, during the Nigerian-Biafran civil war, the CDC assisted in delivering food to the refugees. However, due to a lack of international help, health officials could not get enough food to everyone, so they relied on a high protein distribution effort, i.e., dried fish, dried milk, etc., that was supplemented with locally-grown carbohydrates such as yams, and cassava (manioc) melons. Dr. Lyle Conrad and Dr. William H. Foege established a standard for height and weight for the Nigerian children, which before that time did not exist.
