Месинг се користи у [[електротехника|електротехници]], као конструкцијски и украсни материјал, нпр. за израду [[Музички инструменти|музичких инструмената]]. Најчешће је жуте боје. Црвенкаста боја [[Бакар|бакра]] губи се са повећањем процента [[цинк]]а у легури.
