WJ B 7 months ago (edited) Hey Wikitongues Team! Here's an ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Community translation from WJ B: "Hello, name’s Dang. I live in Bangkok. I work selling everyday items. I also have a store right around Siam and so I travel back and forth between there my house. I’m a genuine city person. Born here. Grew up here. Therefore, I’ve got a lifestyle that is adapted. I’ve got a car, but I don’t really use it because of the traffic jams. There’s too many cars, to the point where there’s no place for pedestrians. And, the air isn’t very good.

But, it’s not all bad. Because there are so many different things here that I tell people to go check out. For example, the weekend market (Chatuchak). Everyone goes there on Saturday and Sunday to relax, find some delicious food, buy clothing, whether second hand or vintage, then go eat some uncommon food. For example, there might be some rice and curry which is made by villagers who use fresh curries that are freshly pounded. Perhaps you’ll find some unusual tasting ice cream, like ice cream consisting of a coconut shell with coconut [ice cream] inside of it and a bunch of different toppings on top. Also, there’s a lot of different accessories and stuff from Chiang Mai, Phuket, from Samui, from all over Thailand. Everything comes together at Chatuchak (the market). If you go and only dedicate one day; it’s not enough. You’ll want to go back again. You’ll go back again 3 or 4 times before you’ve purchased all the stuff that you want because there’s always new stuff.

On the weekends, aside from going to the weekend market, you could visit one of the rivers. Personally, I love taking the boat from one stop to the next along the river. They’re close together and cheap. We call it a “boat bus.” Take off, punch the ticket once and ride leisurely, taking pictures along the way. [You] can keep yourself alive easily because if you’re hungry then you can stop and get off to look for food wherever it is that you are. There’s going to be general, every day food, not food that’s sold to tourists. These are places on the side of the street selling all sorts of things like Bahmi noodles or sweets. Or, you could go meet some locals making uncommon things to sell.

This is a lifestyle where most of the time on my days off, I’m going to do stuff of this sort. But, if it’s a day where I’m not off, I’ll absolutely be at home working. That’s what's good about your office being at your home. You don’t have to leave that much. Yeah, I can leave and go to places around where I live, but I still think about/miss the weekend market every week."
