Student
Student je prvenstveno osoba upisana u školu ili drugu obrazovnu ustanovu koja pohađa nastavu na kursu radi postizanja odgovarajućeg nivoa savladavanja predmeta pod vođstvom instruktora i koja posvećuje vreme van nastave svim aktivnostima koje instruktor dodeli neophodno ili za pripremu nastave ili za podnošenje dokaza o napretku u savladavanju gradiva.[1] U širem smislu, student je svako ko se intenzivno intelektualno angažuje na nekim gradivu.
U Velikoj Britaniji i Indiji, izraz „student” označava one koji su upisani u srednje i više škole (npr. koledž ili univerzitet), a oni koji su upisani u osnovne škole nazivaju se „učenicima”.[2]
Internacionalni studentski dan
urediInternacionalni studentski dan (17. novembar) obeležava godišnjicu nacističkog napada na Univerzitet u Pragu 1939. godine nakon studentskih demonstracija protiv nemačke okupacije Čehoslovačke. Nemci su zatvorili sve češke univerzitete i koledže, poslali su preko 1200 studenata u nacističke koncentracione logore i pogubili devet studentskih vođa (17. novembra).[3]
Studentska politika
urediStudenti imaju sopstvenu struju politike i aktivizma u kampusu i van njega. Pokret za prava studenata se usredsredio na osnaživanje studenata slično radničkom pokretu.
Zreli učenici
urediZreli, netradicionalni ili odrasli student u tercijarnom obrazovanju (na univerzitetu ili koledžu) se obično klasifikuje kao (dodiplomski) student koji ima najmanje 21–23 godine na početku svog kursa i obično je bio van obrazovnog sistema najmanje dve godine. U zrele učenike spadaju i učenici koji su decenijama bili van obrazovnog sistema ili učenici bez srednjeg obrazovanja. Odrasli studenti takođe čine populaciju diplomaca i postdiplomaca prema demografskoj starosti.
Studentske podvale
urediStudenti univerziteta su asocirani sa šalama i podvalama još od stvaranja univerziteta u srednjem veku.[4][5][6][7][8] To često može uključivati sitni kriminal, kao što je krađa saobraćajnih čunjeva i druge javne imovine,[9] ili prevare. Takođe nije neuobičajeno da učenici iz jedne škole ukradu ili unakaze maskotu suparničke škole.[10] Zapravo, šale igraju toliko značajnu ulogu u studentskoj kulturi da su objavljene brojne knjige koje se fokusiraju na to pitanje.[11][12]
