Karl fon Klauzevic
Karl Filip Gotfrid (ili Gotlib) fon Klauzevic (nem. Carl Philipp Gottfried (Gottlieb) von Clausewitz; Burg, 1. jun 1780 — Breslau, 16. novembar 1831)[1] je bio pruski general i vojni teoretičar koji je isticao "moralne" (u današnjem značenju psihološke) i političke aspekte rata. Njegov najznačajniji rad, O ratu, je ostao nedovršen usled njegove smrti. Klauzevic je bio realista u nekim pogledima, dok je u nekim aspektima bio romantičan. Takođe se u velikoj meri oslanjao na racionalističke idejama evropskog prosvetiteljstva.

Njegova razmišljanja su često opisivan kao hegelijanska zbog njegove dijalektičke metode; ali, iako je verovatno lično poznavao Hegela, ostaje nejasno da li je Klausevic bio u stvari pod njegovim uticajem njega.[2] Klauzevic je isticao dijalektičku interakciju različitih faktora, ukazujući na to koliko se neočekivanih situacija dešava usled "magle rata "(tj, u svetlu nepotpunih, sumnjivih, i često potpuno pogrešnih informacija i visokog nivoa straha, sumnje i uzbuđenja) koje zahtevaju brze odluke upozorenih komandanata. On je smatrao istoriju za vitalnu proveru naučenih apstrakcija koje se ne slažu sa iskustvom. Za razliku od ranog rada Antoana Anrija Žominija, Klauzevic je tvrdio da se rat ne može svesti na mape, geometriju i grafikone. Klauzevic je skovao mnogo aforizme, od kojih je najpoznatiji „Rat je nastavak politike drugim sredstvima”.[3]
