Specijalna vazdušna služba
Specijalna vazdušna služba (engl. Special Air Service), skraćeno SAS, je jedinica Britanske armije, osnovana 1941. kao puk, da bi 1950. rekonstituisana kao korpus.[1] Ova jedinica je poslužila kao model za stvaranje mnogobrojnih specijalnih jedinica širom sveta. Vrši veliki broj funkcija među koje spadaju tajno izviđanje, protivteroristička dejstva, direktna dejstva i prikupljanje obaveštajnih podataka.[2][3]
Korpus se trenutno sastoji od 22. puka Specijalne vazdušne službe (engl. 22 Special Air Service Regiment), svoje stalne kompononente, pod operativnom komandom Specijalnih snaga Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva (engl. United Kingdom Special Forces) i rezerve koju čine 22. i 23. puk Specijalne vazdušne službe, pod operativnom komandom 1. Obaveštajne, izviđačke i osmatračke brigade (engl. 1st Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Brigade).[4]
