Palaeonictinae
Palaeonictinae (Palaeoniktinae — „drevne kune”) je izumrla potporodica placentalnih sisara iz izumrle porodice Oxyaenidae, koja je u periodu od kasnog paleocena do ranog eocena nastanjivala područje Evrope i Sjeverne Amerike.[7][8][9] Ovu porodicu sisara su činili rodovi Ambloctonus i Palaeonictis, i parafiletski rod Dipsalodon. Stručni naziv za članove ove potporodice sisara je palaeoniktini.

Opis
urediOve vrste sisara su imale izduženo tijelo sa kratkim nogama, masivne lobanje (u poređenju sa tjelom) sa kratkim njuškama i snažnim vilicama. Po svojoj građi tjela su nalikovali na jazavca i žderavca. Ove vrste su se kretale plantigradno. Kod predstavnika potporodice Palaeonictinae zubi su robusni i tupo zašiljeni, pretkutnjaci su široki a drugi par gornji kutnjaka (M2) je manji od prvog para (M1).[10][11] Zubi su više bili prilagođeni drobljenju kostiju nego rezanju mesa i tetiva.
