Vuk (sazvežđe)
Vuk je sazvežđe južnog neba, i jedno je od 48 originalnih Ptolemejevih sazvežđa. Grci su ga zvali Therion a Rimljani Bestia, što znači jednostavno „zver“. Predstavlja divlju zver nabijenu na kolac koju nosi Kentaur kako bi je žrtvovao na oltaru.[1]

Karakteristike
urediVuk je oivičen sa šest različitih sazvežđa, iako se jedno od njih (Hidra) samo dodiruje na uglu. Ostalih pet su Škorpion (škorpion), Uglomer (pravi ugao), Šestar (kompas), Vaga (vaga za ravnotežu) i Kentaur (kentaur). Pokrivajući 333,7 kvadratnih stepeni i 0,809% noćnog neba, zauzima 46. mesto od 88 savremenih sazvežđa.[2] Skraćenica od tri slova za sazvežđe, koju je usvojila Međunarodna astronomska unija 1922. godine, je Lup.[3] Zvanične granice sazvežđa definisane su dvanaestostranim poligonom (ilustrovanim u infokutiji). U ekvatorijalnom koordinatnom sistemu, koordinate pravog uspona ovih granica se nalaze između 14h 17m 48.0635s i 16h 08m 36.6735s, dok su koordinate deklinacije između -29,83° i -55,58°.[4] Celo sazvežđe je vidljivo posmatračima južno od geografske širine 34 °CGŠ.[a]
