Verski zakon
Verski zakon obuhvata etičke i moralne kodove koje propovedaju verske tradicije. Različiti verski sistemi drže sveto pravo u većem ili manjem stepenu važnosti za svoje sisteme verovanja, pri čemu su neki eksplicitno antinomski,[1][2][3] dok su drugi nomistički ili „legalistički“ po prirodi.[4][5][6] Konkretno, religije kao što su judaizam, islam i bahai vera uče o potrebi za otkrivenim pozitivnim pravom za državu i za društvo, dok druge religije kao što je hrišćanstvo generalno odbacuju ideju da je to neophodno ili poželjno[7] i umesto toga naglašavaju večne moralne propise božanskog zakona nad građanskim, ceremonijalnim ili sudskim aspektima, koji su možda bili poništeni[8] kao u teologijama blagodati nad zakonom.[9][10][11][12]
Primeri uključuju hrišćansko kanonsko pravo (primenljivo u okviru šire teološke koncepcije u crkvi, ali u moderno doba različito od sekularnog državnog prava[13]), islamski šerijat, jevrejsku halahu i hinduističko pravo.[14]
Uspostavljene religije i verske institucije
urediDržavna religija (ili osnovana crkva) je versko telo koje zvanično podržava država. Teokratija je oblik vladavine u kojem je Bog ili božanstvo prepoznat kao vrhovni građanski vladar.[15][16][17]
U teokratijama i u nekim verskim jurisdikcijama prigovori savesti mogu prouzrokovati religijski prestup. Suprotno tome, pravni sistemi su sekularne države ili multikulturna društva u kojima vlada formalno ne prihvata određenu religiju, ali može ili potisnuti svu versku aktivnost ili primeniti toleranciju prema verskoj raznolikosti.
Bahai vera
urediBahai zakoni su zakoni i uredbe koji se koriste u bahai veri i osnovni su deo bahai prakse.[18] Zakoni su zasnovani na verifikovanim tekstovima Bahaulaha, osnivača bahai vere, naknadnim tumačenjima Abdul-Baha i Šogi Efendija i zakonodavstvu Univerzalne kuće pravde.[19] Bahai zakon je predstavljen kao skup opštih principa i smernica i pojedinci moraju da ih primenjuju kako im najbolje odgovara.[19] Dok neke od društvenih zakona sprovode bahai institucije, akcenat je stavljen na to da pojedinci slede zakone na osnovu njihove savesti, razumevanja i rasuđivanja, a od bahaja se očekuje da slede zakone iz ljubavi prema Bahau.[19] Zakoni se vide kao metod održavanja reda i bezbednosti u svetu.[18]
Budizam
urediU budizmu, Patimoka je kodeks od 227 pravila i principa kojih se pridržavaju budistički monasi i monahinje.[20]
