Ferdinand Markos
Ferdinand Emanuel Edralin Markos[1] (šp. Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralín Marcos; Sarat, Luzon, 11. septembar 1917 — Honolulu, Havaji, 28. septembar 1989) bio je filipinski političar, dugogodišnji predsednik države i diktator od 1965. do 1986. godine.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8] Predsednik Filipina postao je 1965, kao jedan od najpopularnijih političara, a 1986. je na talasu masovnih protesta zbačen sa vlasti, posle čega je izbegao na Havaje.[9] On je bio vodeći član krajnjeg desničarskog Pokreta novog društva, i vladao je kao diktator[3][10][11][12] pod vojnom upravom od 1972 do 1981.[13] Njegov režim je bio zloglasan zbog svoje korupcije,[14][15][16][17] ekstravagancije,[18][19][20] i brutalnosti.[21][22][23][24]

Biografija uredi
Rođen je 1917. godine na filipinskom ostrvu Luzon. Po zanimanju je bio pravnik. Nakon što su SAD predale nezavisnost Filipinima 1946. godine, Markos se uključio u politiku. Bio je poslanik u filipinskom kongresu od 1949. do 1959. godine.
Predsednik uredi
Za predsednika Filipina bio je izabran 1965. i na toj funkciji je ostao više od 20 godina. Tokom vladavine, njegova vlast je bila sve više korumpirana i represivna. Politički protivnici su proganjani. Među ostalima, ubijen je vođa opozicije Beninjo Akino kada se 1983. vratio iz egzila[25]. Na taj je način uklonjen najozbiljniji kandidat koji je mogao da ga pobedi na izborima 1984. godine. Markosov režim su podržavale Sjedinjene Američke Države.
Markos je, sve vreme dok je vladao kao predsednik, imao jake veze sa SAD-om, a bio je dobar prijatelj s Ričardom Niksonom, Lindonom Džonsonom i Ronaldom Reganom. Odnosi između dve države nakratko su zahladili tokom mandata Džimija Kartera, koji je posebno upozoravao na kršenje ljudskih prava. U Vijetnamski rat poslao je filipinske vojnike koji su se borili na američkoj strani[26].
Ferdinand i njegova supruga Imelda Markos tretirali su državnu ekonomiju kao da je to bila njihova ušteđevina. Imelda je putovala po svetu, na primer, u Njujork gde je trošila ogromne količine filipinskog novca na umetnička dela. Njen interes za odeću bio je naširoko poznat, pogotovo njena ljubav prema cipelama[27].
Pad s vlasti uredi
Dana 25. februara 1986. godine, bračni par Markos bio je prisiljen da pobegne iz zemlje zbog narodnog pokreta koji se podigao zahtevajući demokratiju[28]. Nastanili su se na Havajima, gde je Markos umro 1989. godine.
