Miocyon
Miocyon (Miokion — „manji pas”) je izumrli rod placentalni sisara iz kladusa Carnivoraformes, koji je u periodu od srednjeg do kasnog eocena nastanjivao područje Sjeverne Amerike.[5][6][7][8][9]

Opis uredi
Vrste iz roda Miocyon su bile mali kopneni svaštojedi veličine današnjeg sjevernoameričkog rakuna, koji su u prošlosti Sjeverne Amerike nastanjivali plavne ravnice i kopnene ekosisteme. Ove vrste su vodile život sličan šakalima. Hranile su se sa insektima, glodarima i drugim malim životinjama, ali i sa jajima i hranom biljnog porijekla. Ove vrste su takođe bile prilagođene i penjanju po drveću.

Istorija klasifikacije uredi
Rod Prodaphaenus je u prošlosti bio uvrštavan kao podrod unutar roda Uintacyon, ali je kasnije prepoznat kao zaseban rod kladusa Carnivoraformes.
