„Svici sa Mrtvog mora“ ili „Kumranski spisi“ sastoje se od oko 900 dokumenata, uključujući i tekstova iz Hebrejske Biblije, koji su otkriveni između 1947. i 1956. u 11 pećina u okolini Kumrana u blizini drevnog naselja Khirbet Kumran, na severozapadnoj obali Mrtvog mora.

Tekstovi su od velikog istorijskog i religijskog značenja pošto sadrže jedine poznate preživele kopije biblijskih dokumenata nastalih oko 100. p. n. e. te sadrže dokaze o značajnoj raznolikosti vere i prakse unutar kasnog Drugog Hrama judaizma. Napisani su na hebrejskom, aramejskom i grčkom jeziku, većinom na pergamentu, ali neki su napisani i na papirusu.[1] Ovi spisi većinom datiraju između 150. p. n. e. i 70. n. e.[2] Svici su većinom poistovjećeni sa drevnom jevrejskom sektom zvanom eseni, no neki noviji naučnici sumnjaju u njihovu povezanost sa spisima.[3]

Svici sa Mrtvog mora su tradicionalno podeljeni na tri grupe: „biblijski“ rukopisi (kopije tekstova Hebrejske Biblije), koji tvore oko 40% identifikovanih spisa; apokrifne ili „pseudepigrane“ rukopise (poznati dokumenti iz razdoblja Drugog Hrama poput Enoha, Jubileja, Tobita, Siraha, nekanonizovanih psalma, itd., koji nisu postali službeni deo Biblije), koji tvore oko 30% identifikovanih spisa; i „sektarijanskim“ rukopisima (prethodno nepoznatim dokumentima koji govore o pravilima i verovanjima određene grupe ili grupa unutar šireg judaizma) kao što je „Pravilo o zajednici“, „Spis o ratu“, „Pesher“ (hebrejski pesher פשר = „objašnjenje“) o Habakuku, i „Pravilo o blagosolovu“, koje čine oko 30% identifikovanih spisa. [4]

Pre 1968, većina poznatih spisa i fragmenata su bili smiješteni u Rokfelerovom muzeju (prethodno poznatom kao Palestinski arheološki muzej) u Jerusalimu. Nakon Šestodnevnog rata, spisi su premešteni u Hram knjiga, kod izraelskog muzeja.

Objavljivanje spisa je trajalo decenijama, pa je stoga takvo zakašnjenje bilo predmet raznih akademskih kontroverzi. Do 2007, dve sveske se moraju upotpuniti da bi cela serija „Otkrića u judejskoj pustinji“, imala ukupno svezaka. Osim u Izraelu, neki se svici nalaze u univerzitetu u Čikagu u sklopu Orijentalnog instituta, Pristonskog teološkog seminarau, univerzitetu Azuza Pacifik i u rukama privatnih skupljača. Prema Oksfordovom vodiču za arheologiju, Kumranski spisi, koji uključuju barem fragmente od svake knjige Starog zaveta, izuzev Knjige o Esteri, omogućavaju stručnjacima mnogo stariji poprečni presek tradicije skripte nego onaj koji je bio pre moguć. Oko 35% biblijskih spisa su gotovo identični tradicionalnim hebrejskim tekstovima Starog zaveta s 10% tradicionalnim grčkim i samaritanskim, dok ostatak izlaže gotovo dramatičnu razliku i u jeziku i u sadržaju. U svojem opsegu tekstovnih varijanti, kumranski spisi su naterali naučnike da razmisle o ustaljenim teorijama o razvoju modernog biblijskog teksta od samo tri rukopisne porodice: Mazoretski tekst, hebrejski original Septuaginta i Samaritanska Tora. Postaje jasno da je sveto pismo Starog zaveta bilo izrazito tečno sve do biblijske kanonizacije koja se dogodila oko 100. n. e. [4]

Pronalazak uredi

U proleće 1947. godine na području Kumrana mladi pastir je tražeći ovce došao do ulaza u nepoznate pećine. Kad su mu se oči privikle na mrak ustanovio je da se pred njime nalaze brižno posloženi ćupovi. Iako tamo nije naišao na nikakvo zlato, otkrio je da se u ćupovima nalaze stari spisi prepuni prašine.

Prvih sedam svitaka koje su pronašli pastiri je ubrzo završilo na Hebrejskom univerzitetu u Jerusalimu, a ushićeni naučnici sa svih strana sveta došli su u Kumran i počeli istraživati ostale okolne pećine. Potraga je urodila plodom i omogućila očuvanje desetaka hiljada novih fragmenata među kojima su bili delovi Biblije stariji od svih do tada poznatih na originalnom heberejskom. U pećinama pored Mrtvog mora pronađeni su svici koji su na sebi sadržavali delove tekstova svih biblijskih knjiga, osim one o Ester, koji su stariji od svih ostalih poznatih jevrejskih biblijskih zapisa. Ovakva velika starost svitaka odmah je nametnula dva velika pitanja. Prvo je bilo ono o prvobitnim vlasnicima tih spisa, a drugo da li će ti originalni tekstovi otkriti neke do tada nepoznate podatke koji nisu uključeni u konačnu verziju Biblije.

Prema svim proveravanjima može se zaključiti da su svici pripadali odvojenoj religijskoj zajednici koja se držala po strani od ostalih. Početkom 68. godine u kumransko područje dolazi vojska rimskog generala Vespazijana kako bi ugušila jevrejsku pobunu, pa se s pravom može pretpostaviti da su upravo tada svici bili sakriveni u pećine.
